American Legion Auxiliary Unit 539

Membership Requirements:

 

To be eligible for membership, a person must be a female veteran or one of the following relatives of a veteran: spouse (male or female), mother, grandmother, daughter, granddaughter, or sister. If the veteran is living, he/she must be a current member of the American Legion. If the veteran is deceased, please see below for acceptable documentation of their service.

 

Membership Application:

 

• Print out & complete the BOTTOM membership form

• If the veteran is deceased, attach a copy of the veteran's proof of service. Acceptable documentation includes: 

  • Official Military Orders

  • Official Military Service Citations/Awards

  • Letters related to the veteran’s military service (must be on official government letterhead)

  • Certificate from the VA records center in St. Louis

  • DD Form 214 Discharge Papers (not issued until after the Korean War - can be requested through the National Archives)

  • Data from the back of older discharges

• Submit annual dues payment of $36
